Background of Mitosis and Meiosis
Mitosis
Mitosis is the duplication or splitting of a cell and its parts. It duplicates its DNA and the two new cells (daughter cells) have the same genetic code. Two similar copies come from one original. Start with one; get two that are the same.
There are several steps in Mitosis:
Interphase
Prophase
Metaphase
Anaphase
Telophase

Meiosis
Meiosis is basically the same as Mitosis but instead duplicates to 4 daughter cells.Meiosis is the splitting of sexual cells or gametes. For examples. cells such as sperm or egg gets duplicated. The other main difference between Mitosis and Meiosis is that Meiosis divides twice instead of one during the cell division.
